Day 122 – 130 mile 2464 – 2653

Day 122 – 130 mile 2464 – 2653

After playing cards and drinking Whiskey until 1am I fell into my bunkbed and slept astonishingly well compared to the hotel-bed a few days ago.   In the morning I got up at 7h30 to get breakfast. Pancakes, bacon, croissants and sliced apples, simple delicious 🙂   I charged my phone again, to leave with it as much charged as possible and went out to find the store. After 15 minutes I found it and was more than disapointed!…

Day 115 – 121 mile 2327 – 2464

Day 115 – 121 mile 2327 – 2464

As expected the night was rough, very rough! Because I have a single-wall tent I am not allowed to touch the walls when its raining otherwise I’ll get wet too.   I woke up at 3am and couldn’t find any more sleep because. So I played with my phone until it was time to get up.   Well, getting up was not easy today because everything was frozen over night. And by everything I mean everything. From socks to…

Day 108 – 115 mile 2148 – 2327

Day 108 – 115 mile 2148 – 2327

After a relaxing week in Portland where I did my first atempt on sending resupply packages I was going back to Cascade Locks.     I missed the bus only by 2 minutes… but missed is missed and I had to call an Uber to drive me all the way back to Cascade Locks. 57$ which I could habe better spent than this. Eve, my driver dropped me if in front of the supermarket where I had to buy…

Day 104 – 107 mile 2097 – 2147

Day 104 – 107 mile 2097 – 2147

Spending the night in a bed was not as comfortable as I’d expected. The room was really warm with no air-conditionning and having the windows open didn’t helped enough.   The hotel was build in 1939 an renovated in 1955. Since then everything has been kept the same way. It was some kind of historical flashback beeing there for the short time.   We sat at the famous buffet at 8am. Everyone on trail tells you to go there…

Day 96 – 103 mile 2001 – 2097

Day 96 – 103 mile 2001 – 2097

After spending two days off trail with driving to portland and back, shopping, drinking wine, having a lot of showers and buying a 9 day resupply Fabienne and I were back on trail. The weather was amazing, it had rained two days ago when we were off-trail so the air is cleared from the smoke and the trail is dust-free.   Perfect conditions if the beginning wouldn’t have been a 6 mile uphill section, a tough start for Fabienne….

Day 84 – 95 mile 1655 – 2001

Day 84 – 95 mile 1655 – 2001

When I decided to hike out again I bought a coke, a gatorade and an icecream for the way 🙂 Coke & icecream was gone on the way to the trail and the gatorade an hour later.   I think this was one of the roughest uphill sections I ever had on trail. After 6 hours of rest your legs are rusted and it wad really steep. 6 miles in 3 hours.     When I finally arrived at…

Day 81 – 84 mile 1501 – 1655

Day 81 – 84 mile 1501 – 1655

So I got out of the bus around 19 and wanted to hike about 6 more miles to a campsite close to a creek. Only problem, the trail was only going steep uphill.   But the shoes where good and the backpack incredibly comfy so it didnt take me too long. At 21h, after the sun set, Iarrived at the camp already with my headlamp on becauee it was so dark.   I quickly set up my tent…

Day 77 – 80 mile 1391- 1501

Day 77 – 80 mile 1391- 1501

As I mentioned before, we survived. At lesst I did, because when I left Stardust wasn’t moving in her tent which is ok at 6h10 🙂 The trail was great and it went slightly downhill so I could keep a great pace during the first few hours.   But after 12 miles the trail showed his ugliest face and it was full of small lavarocks which hurt horribly trough my worn out shoes. I forgot to replace them on…

Day 75 & 76 mile 1331 – 1391

Day 75 & 76 mile 1331 – 1391

I arrived back in Chester due to the glorious american public transport, 3 hours late and only because I hitchhiked the last 65 miles.   I was so pissed about the bus that simply didn’t showed up and the company not picking up the phone that I went straight to bed after I set up my tent behind the church where we slept already 3 weeks ago.   Due to the jetlag I woke up at 5 in the…

Day 63 – 64 mile 1125 – 1160

Day 63 – 64 mile 1125 – 1160

Because we only wanted to hike 22 miles today we slept longer and left camp after 7am.   The sun was already out and the heat made us suffer from the beginning on. We had to climb the first mountain of three today without having breakfast because I left my bagels in the bottom of the bagpack and didn’t wanted to unpack everything again.   On top of the hill we had a few cellphone breaks and in…
