Day 65 – 74 mile 1160 – 1331

Day 65 – 74 mile 1160 – 1331

I always wake up first and play with my phone until Ben or Dr Who how I named him wakes up too.   Dr Who, because well he’s almost a doctor and becauer he’s into technics an building things.   The mosquitos were not as bad as yesterday, but we still had to hurry up as soon as we left our tent to avoid getting stung to much.   As most of the days the first few miles…

Day 37 -39 mile 624 – 702

Day 37 -39 mile 624 – 702

The alarm went of at 5am but I didn’t move until 5:30. Waking up, packing and setting down the tent took 30 minutes and then I was ready to go.   First breakfast gets eaten while walking, toothbrushing is done while walking too.   5 minutes uphill, 20 down and then 2 hours of climbing… at least my body got the chance to warm himself up after the 30 miles yesterday.   This is the worst trail do…

Day 34 – 36 mile 558 – 624

Even though the bed was comfortable and I slept well I woke up at 6am and wasn’t able to fall back asleep. So I watched the Moto GP on my phone, after missing two of the races I could finally see one again ๐Ÿ™‚   Around 9 the 3 of us were awake and we started packing our bagpacks, getting another shower an calling home.   This took almost 3 hours and we left around 12 ready to get…

Day 29 & 30 mile 478 – 503

Day 29 & 30 mile 478 – 503

I stayed in my tent until 8h00 because I wasnt in a rush to leave and wanted to start slow. There were still pancakes left from breakfast so I sat down and enjoyed having a chair and a table to eat ๐Ÿ™‚   I did nothing the whole morning exceptย  wandering around in the magical forest behind Casa de Luna.       Every hiker who stays there paints a rock an places it somewhere in the forest. Some…

Day 27 & 28 mile 454 – 478

Day 27 & 28 mile 454 – 478

There is no way to sleep longer than 7h00 because all the hikers that leave in the morning have to pack up their tents and they will make noise, a lot of noise.   After getting up I trotted around in the camping area for s bit before making myself some breakfast. If tortillas with nutella counts as making breakfast ๐Ÿ™‚   At 10h00 we started a trip to REI, a local hardware store for backpackers. I needed new…

Day 26 mile 438 – 454

Day 26 mile 438 – 454

Even though the day was very wind, the night was more quiet than expected. I got enough sleep and felt good and warm enough to leave my sleeping quilt.   At 7h00 I left the campsite with only 1 more tent behind me. I don’t know how everyone gets up that much earlier than me…     This view must have been even better at sunrise, but I’m apparently too much of a long sleeper to seeย sunrises ๐Ÿ™‚  …

Day 22 – 25 mile 369 – 438

Day 22 – 25 mile 369 – 438

The first movement in our room was made by Woody, he got op early for breakfast. Early means around 8… We started moving at 9, everyone got another shower and packed the bagpack to head out.   We had breakfast at the Evergreen cafe. Like everyone in this town they are very hickerfriendly.ย  The servings were huge! Not your standard huge, but just uneatably huge.   After breakfast I went to the post office to get my new sleeping…

Day 20 & 21 mile 328 – 369

Day 20 & 21 mile 328 – 369

Same procedure as every day, as I got out of my tent at 6h30, mine was the only one still standing.   Just after 7h00 I left for the 14 mile waterless strech before I would get to the McDonalds at the Cajon junction.   The first few miles were uphill again to get out of the valley of the lake where the famous camping spot is.     When you have this specific goal in mind, which is close…

Day 17 – 19 mile 286 – 328

Day 17 – 19 mile 286 – 328

As said the night was cold and in the morning it was not easy to get up, but you don’t have a choice ๐Ÿ™‚   After 3 miles I ran into a part of my trailfamily who camped just ahead of me which I didn’t noticed because my camp was off trail.     At the next waterstop another 3 miles after I saw them we had breakfast an a 15 minutes Yoga class. But I think next time…

Day 15 & 16 mile 266 – 286

Day 15 & 16 mile 266 – 286

Dinner with a nice view ๐Ÿ™‚   We camped about half a mile away from the Highway 18 where we wanted to hitch into Bigbear.   We left the camp just after 7am and reached the highway 10 minutes later, we were lucky and someone just dropped of a few hickers, so he took us back into town.   We got our resupply done by 8h30 and went over to have a nice breakfast ๐Ÿ™‚     The hitch…
